Sturbridge Travel Guide
Welcome to Sturbridge, MA!
Settled in 1729 and officially incorporated in 1738, Sturbridge's rich history and New England charm is evidenced throughout the city. Sturbridge is located in Worcester County in south-central Massachusetts, an area characterized by covered bridges, historic taverns and country inns. Farmers, craftsmen and several historic buildings—including a meeting house, cider mill, shoe shop, law office and number of town homes—bring 18th- and 19th-century town life to Old Sturbridge Village, a living history museum open from May to mid-October. During the annual Harvest Festival in October, the Sturbridge Town Common is filled with craft vendors, homemade baked goods, harvest displays and family-oriented activities. Another popular event is Concerts on the Common, a series of free performances in July and August that offers visitors the chance to hear folk, country, blues and many other styles of music.
